CIIMDA has been offering the following services and support through the various Country representatives: providing, free of charge, standard African music instruments such as the djembe drums, bells and shakers to be distributed free to schools in the participating countries. The instruments are intended as CIIMDA’s material support for the theoretical education it offers on indigenous African musical arts since 2004. We have also sent an offer to the countries through our representatives that CIIMDA is willing to provide instruments to the participating countries. However, the condition is that the various Ministries should arrange to collect the instruments from Pretoria and distribute to schools as per need. So far not a single country has been interested in collecting the music instruments.

2007
In 2007 CIIMDA has given booster training to 2 people from each participating country who could be deployed as Country trainers to enable them to begin to train other teachers and learners in their respective countries under logistic arrangement by their respective Ministries and coordinate by the Country Reps. CIIMDA needs evidence that the country trainees are being effectively deployed and whether further training, or the training of more instructors is needed in the participating countries.
Standard books of education in the philosophy, theory, and practice of indigenous African musical arts have been published by CIIMDA to cater for cultural arts education from primary up to Tertiary levels of education in Africa. Complimentary copies have been given to the Country Reps to present to the Ministry. Some teachers have also received copies of these books. More books are being produced in 2007 for release in 2008. CIIMDA is prepared to make the books available and affordable for distribution to teachers and learners in schools on condition that a country includes African indigenous musical arts in the curriculum and express interest in the use of the books that have been given to the Country Reps for the inspection and approval of the relevant decision makers in the Ministry.
DVDs of musical arts performances by school concert groups in the SADC countries covered by CIIMDA and recorded during CIIMDA outreach courses have been prepared and await background information for the producing accompanying-learning brochures. Country Reps have been given sample copies of the DVD in order to find persons to provide the background information. CIIMDA even made some funds available to compensate persons who would provide the necessary information for the DVD brochures. So far only Malawi has responded positively and will soon receive the DVDs for distribution and use in the schools.
2006
Phase 3 of the CIIMDA programme started in 2006. The CIIMDA team visited different locations in the participating countries.
