6TH PASMAE 2009 CONFERENCE

OCTOBER 25TH - 31ST, 2009. LAGOS, NIGERIA. CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENT/INFORMATION 1

On behalf of the President and Executive Committee members of PASMAE, the Local Organizing Committee welcomes you all to the 2009 conference, holding in Lagos, Nigeria. While we all look forward to a fruitful brainstorming session, we also hope it is going to be an exciting experience in Nigeria. Teachers, Music Practitioners, Policy Implementers are all welcome.


CONFERENCE THEME: CULTURAL AFFIRMATION IN THE CONTEXT OF CURRENT GLOBAL EDUCATIONAL CHALLENGES FOR MUSIC EDUCATORS.


CALL FOR PAPERS: Abstract of not more than 300 words are to be submitted to the addresses below.

DEADLINE DATES: Abstract submission should not exceed 2ND April 2009, while full paper for those who’s Abstract are accepted should not exceed July 2nd, 2009.


Format of Submission

Consideration for each submission should be prefaced with: This Paper/Workshop/posters is submitted for the 6th Pan African Society for Musical Arts Education Conference, Lagos, October 2009. The submission must be in Microsoft Word, Times New Roman 12 point font, with a left margin of 3 cm and all other margins of 2 cm, with double spacing.


NOTICES


Submissions for this conference must derive their impetus from the classroom situation/experiences and to a large extent in a concert form. The conference encourages MAT Cell presentations (MUSICAL ACTION TEAM)


Registration fee: $50

Membership fee: $20


Only full papers found publishable shall appear in the conference proceedings, as the Executive Committee is making effort to make both the Books of Abstract and Proceedings available at the Conference venue.


30 minutes shall be allocated to Papers: 20 minutes for presentation and 10 minutes for questions.


1 hour shall be allocated to workshop presentations in which the presenter will involve workshop participants in practical ideas for music learning, teaching and practice.



All delegates and participants are to be responsible for all expenses including travel, accommodation, and feeding. Therefore, all are encouraged to solicit for funds from all available sources.
